LPC

Individual Counseling • Therapy

A warm hello! I’m Val, a therapist at Trend Mental Health & Wellness. I graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Colorado Denver and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regis University, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Colorado. I have been working in the mental health field for 11 years and have previous experience in multiple treatment settings, including the inpatient, residential, and outpatient levels of care. I specialize in working with adults experiencing a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, addiction, low self-esteem, and women’s issues.

With a warm and compassionate approach, my goal is to create a safe space that welcomes and invites exploration of every part of the human experience, including those that feel challenging or unfamiliar. I believe that wisdom and opportunities for growth lie in even the greatest challenges. I aim to build a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and non-judgment, and to walk alongside my clients as they embark on their journeys toward healing and living their most authentic lives. I place emphasis on clients’ strengths along the way to nurture hope and resilience and believe wholeheartedly in their potential. I do not believe in a “one-size-fits-all” model of therapy and am eclectic in my practice - my view is that successful therapy involves providing a personalized, client-centered approach, and I integrate various techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and somatic therapy to fit my clients’ unique experiences, goals, and preferences.

Beyond my work as a therapist, I enjoy hiking and adventuring the beautiful Colorado mountains, painting, dancing, cooking, and spending quality time with my husband, daughter, cat, and three dogs.
